Organic Clothing - A Great Alternative to Traditional Clothing Materials
Historically, clothing was an important aspect of social life for men and women alike. Women wore clothes for their protection from the harsh realities of nature and men wore clothes as a symbol of their status in society. As time passed, with the evolution of technology, clothing became less utilitarian and more for fashion reasons. Fashion has dictated the look of clothing that people wore in the past centuries and it still rules the fashion world today although most clothing is machine made and no longer made by hand.
Clothes today are made from different fabrics which include cotton, polyester, synthetic fibers, wool, rayon, silk and denim. Fabric plays a huge role in the way clothes look and are also categorized into different types such as home textiles, industrial fabric and designer textiles. The textile industry is today a billion dollar industry making use of a variety of new fabrics to produce clothes that are fashionable, comfortable and at the same time durable. Clothes can be made from any material, but the most common are those made from cotton, polyester, rayon, silk and cotton blends.
Cotton has been the primary cloth since ages and it is still one of the most popular and preferred textiles used in making clothes. It is very versatile as it is breathable, soft, durable, and can be dyed easily. Its characteristics make it a perfect choice for clothing materials. However, cotton is a bit expensive compared to other cloths thus, the demand for cheaper clothing materials is always there. Dyes have also helped to change the appearance of cotton clothes as they have a multitude of colors to choose from.
Polyester has become one of the most popular and widely used cloths in the fashion industry today. It can be manufactured very easily and has a very light weight, which makes it ideal for manufacturing clothes. It is made up of a combination of cotton and polyester and its main qualities are comfort, moisture absorption, flexibility and resistance to mildew. Although it is a synthetic fibre, it is also biodegradable and can be recycled easily. However, it is quite expensive compared to other fabrics which makes it a poor choice for clothing materials.
We all know that natural fibres are better than man-made fabrics when it comes to quality and durability. But fabric clothes are more vulnerable to wear and tear and this is one of the reasons why more people are going for organic fabrics. Organic fabrics can withstand many times of being washed and dries out very easily and do not shrink, stretch or stain. Even the air is not able to set deep into the fabric clothes as it is considered to be non-permeable. As a result, the fabric clothes remain in good condition even after being worn for several months.
Another popular type of clothing materials available in the market nowadays are fashion jewellery. They can be sewn in any colour and used as accessories or parts of the whole outfit. Some of these fashion accessories may be in the form of bracelets, necklaces, earrings or even rings. With fashion jewellery you can create a different look every day without spending much.
The next time you go to your favorite clothing store ask the salesperson if there are any discount coupons or sales. They may give you some good discounts that you can use to buy clothes at a lower price. If you don't want to buy too many clothes at one time, make sure you do not wear more than six pieces of clothing per outing. It would also be better if you will wash and rinse your clothes before you put them away. Remember to always read the label on your clothing whether it is made of 100% organic cotton or not.
